Marlene’s journey began in 1988 when she enrolled in a tole painting course. Her natural innate ability to create, along with self determination and commitment, led the way.
In 1997 she became the owner of Country Wood Tole Studio in White Rock, British Columbia. She hosted and studied with many merited decorative folk artists. Mediums used were acrylics, pastels, oils, and watercolour. In addition, she earned certificates in Pen and Ink Oil Rouging and Watercolour.
Marlene has attended many national Creative Painting Conventions in Las Vegas. She has had the opportunity to learn Zhostovo folk art florals under the direction of two Russian masters: Misha Lebedev and Salva.
After ten years of instructing acrylics and beginners water colour for adults, she went on to pursue her other interests—photography and quilting. Marlene finds inspiration to turn her photos into watercolour paintings.
