About Us

The Port Kells Arts Club (PKAC) is about participating artistically within a friendly and supportive network of other visual artists.

Our not-for-profit club was formed in 1962 by a group of local artists and then, as it still is today. was managed and operated by the club’s members. The PKAC is a registered society under both the provincial and federal charities acts. As a member of the Langley Arts Council, Arts Council of Surrey and BC Arts Council, our club has the privilege of receiving support and funding for our on-going programs.

Our club year runs from September through May (no activities in July, August, and December). Membership in the PKAC is open to all people who are interested in supporting the arts and fellow artists. We embrace all levels of ability and encourage our members to reach their potential by offering them participation in classes, plein air, outside venue sales, and local art exhibitions.

Social connections and friendships between our members are also fostered by hosting two pot luck luncheons during the year.

We welcome new members with fresh and innovative ideas on how we can improve and grow as a club and progress as individual artists who share a common love for the arts.

This not-for-profit club cannot function without everyone getting involved in some capacity to help keep the club operating. There are several volunteer positions available that are designed to fit the abilities and time constraints of our members. Included are: Board of Directors (4 members), Art Show Committee including community art display venue management, advertising, Arts Council reps (attend meetings monthly and report back), art instructor selection, membership information contact person, opening/locking-up the hall weekly; email/telephone contact person, website maintenance,…. and more.

What We Offer

Through the following activities and resources we provide opportunities for members to meet other artists and to improve their creative skills:

Enrollment is available to members on a first come, first-to-pay basis.

Art classes from January to April are usually five or six sessions. In May the art course could be four sessions. June is open to plein air painting two Saturdays.
